[Subduing monsters? Oh, how scary]

The Japanese animated film 'Chiikawa the Movie: Secret of the Mermaid Island' continues its box office success, surpassing 2 million moviegoers.

This comes 25 days after its release.

Among animated films released this year, it is the second to surpass 2 million admissions, following 'Toy Story 5' released in June.

Chiikawa the Movie tells the story of Chiikawa and friends who set off for an uncharted island and uncover the secrets hidden within.

In contrast to the cute appearance of the characters, it deals with realistic adult concerns such as labor and compensation.

Gaining empathy from audiences, it is maintaining the top spot at the box office.
