The league-leading Samsung secured its eighth consecutive win to start the season, tying the all-time record for the most consecutive opening-game victories.
Samsung players, who achieved their first-ever 7-game opening win streak two days ago on October 24, displayed strong concentration in the closing moments despite a grueling back-to-back schedule.
Although they led KOGAS by 11 points through the third quarter and saw their lead narrowed to 4 points midway through the fourth quarter, Lee Kyu-tae and Lee Geun-hwi hit crucial 3-pointers to fend off the comeback, while Kanter finished off a brilliant pass from Han Ho-bin for a score.
With an 8-point victory to extend their opening win streak to 8 games, Samsung tied the all-time record for the most consecutive opening wins previously set by Dongbu in the 2011-12 season and Orions in the 2014-15 season.
Samsung will go for a new record this coming Friday against Sono.
Led by Hammonds, who poured in 31 points, DB defeated KGC to extend its winning streak to 3 games, while SK saw five players score in double digits to defeat KT and also secure its third straight win.
