This is CCTV footage capturing the entrance of a patent law firm office in Yeoksam-dong, Seoul.
It is 11:52 a.m. on October 20.
Right after a female patent attorney, A, steps out of the office, the emergency staircase door next to the elevator opens, and a man appears carrying yellow liquid-filled containers in both hands.
A short while later, when attorney A returns to the office, the two stand at the entrance and converse for about 20 seconds.
Shortly after, the serial arson suspect, a man in his 70s surnamed Lee, gestures for A to go back inside, sets down one of the containers he was holding onto the floor, and pours out the flammable substance.
Without hesitation, Lee proceeds to ignite the substance with a lighter.
Flames instantly soar, and thick black smoke engulfs the entrance of the patent law firm.
Right after the flames erupt, Lee disappears back through the emergency staircase door, still holding another container of unpoured flammable substance in one hand.
From the moment Lee appears to when he sets the fire and leaves, only about a minute passes.
On the floor where Lee set the fire alone, eight people were rushed to the hospital, including three who suffered severe injuries.
[Official at the victimized patent law firm : (Before Lee set the fire, the female employee) closed the door, went inside, and looked right into (Lee's) eyes, and he just smirked. Isn't that demonic?]
Following this, Lee immediately went to another patent law firm office about 200 meters away and started a fire, which resulted in one patient in cardiac arrest and ten injured victims.
Both locations targeted by Lee were the sole entrances and exits to the offices, but police have continued their investigation by placing Lee under arrest solely on charges of arson resulting in injury to an inhabited building.
