The Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball (MLB) have made a strong start in pursuit of their first championship ring in 58 years since their founding.

Milwaukee, the National League champion, narrowly edged out American League champion Tampa Bay Rays 3-2 in Game 1 of the World Series (best-of-seven) held at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on October 24 (Korean time).

Game 2 between the two teams will take place tomorrow morning, October 25, at the same venue.

Relying on their trademark dominant bullpen, Milwaukee warded off Tampa Bay's pursuit to savor a precious victory.

Displaying a stingy 1.33 ERA across eight postseason games this year through the previous day, Milwaukee's relief corps was deployed starting in the 6th inning with a 2-1 lead, locking down the Tampa Bay lineup to just one run.

Milwaukee seized the initiative by scoring two runs with concentrated hitting in the bottom of the 1st inning.

After leadoff hitter Jackson Chourio got on base with a single to right field, Christian Yelich hit an RBI triple to right-center with one out, bringing Chourio home.

Tampa Bay center fielder Jonny DeLuca dove to catch Yelich's batted ball, but it hit his glove and trickled away in another direction.

Immediately following, William Contreras hit an RBI single toward left field that clipped the glove of the shortstop playing in, widening the gap to 2-0.

Trailing 0-2, Tampa Bay cut the deficit with an infield grounder in the 4th inning with one out and runners on second and third, set up by Junior Caminero's double. However, Milwaukee pulled ahead 3-1 in the bottom of the 7th with an RBI single to right field by Chourio with two outs and a runner on second.

In the top of the 9th, Tampa Bay only managed to add one run during their final comeback opportunity with one out and the bases loaded.

Milwaukee's starting catcher Contreras shone brilliantly on both offense and defense, recording two hits and one RBI at the plate while gunning down base stealers with precise throws in succession in the 5th and 6th innings.

Milwaukee starting pitcher Jacob Misiorowski pitched 5 strong innings, allowing 4 hits and 1 run with 3 strikeouts to earn the win.

Tampa Bay veteran pitcher Nick Martinez also pitched well, allowing 5 hits and 2 runs over 5 innings, but took the loss due to a lack of run support from his offense.
