Yang Yoon-seok, head of the SBS News Division (Senior Vice President), has been appointed as the new President and CEO of SBS.

SBS held a board meeting today (the 23rd) and appointed Yang Yoon-seok as the new President and CEO.

His official inauguration date is October 26.

Following his appointment, new SBS President Yang presented a management goal of achieving No. 1 in content competitiveness across all sectors and genres, stating, "Moving forward, we will concentrate all our capabilities on securing content competitiveness to make SBS the first choice for viewers, users, and platforms."

Diagnosing that "terrestrial broadcasters are currently facing a crisis for survival as stable revenue structures, such as advertising, collapse due to rapid changes in the media environment," President Yang said, "SBS must break through this crisis by reviving the adventurous spirit it had at its founding."

President Yang also emphasized, "To ensure that the challenges faced by SBS executives and employees to overcome this crisis lead to tangible results, we will align all of the company's capabilities toward securing competitiveness, including improving work processes and compensation systems," adding, "We will establish a foundation to adequately share the achievements gained through innovation with our members."

"Together with the new management team, we will formulate specific tasks and execution plans for SBS to innovate and announce them on our 36th anniversary next month," President Yang stated, adding, "Through this innovation, we will lay the groundwork for SBS to endure for 50 to 100 years."

President Yang graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in political science and joined SBS as a 1st open-recruitment reporter in 1991, the year after the network's founding.

He subsequently held major positions including Tokyo correspondent, head of the newsroom, and policy team leader, and served as the Secretary-General of the Korean Broadcasters Association from 2018 to 2020.

He later served as Head of Media Policy at TY Holdings (2020–2024), Head of Policy at SBS (2024), and Head of the News Division (2024–2026).
