A man who wandered around a residential area in the early morning hours holding weapons in both hands has been apprehended by police.
This incident occurred five days after Choi Choong-rak went on a weapon rampage at a commercial building in Incheon.
Incheon Seobu Police Station announced that it has booked a man in his 50s, surnamed A, on charges of carrying a weapon in a public place and is currently investigating him.
A is suspected of walking around an alley in front of a residential area in Seohae-gu, Incheon, at around 1:00 a.m. on the 18th with two 32-cm-long weapons in each of his hands.
A nearby resident who witnessed this reported to authorities, stating, "There is a man walking around the street holding weapons and saying he is going to stab people."
Police discovered A sitting on the stairs in the residential alley holding the weapons and arrested him at the scene.
At the time of his arrest, A was reportedly intoxicated and showed signs of agitation, including attempting to self-harm.
During police questioning, A reportedly denied the allegations, stating that he "had no intention of harming others."
Incidents involving carrying weapons in public places and weapon rampages have been occurring consecutively in the capital area recently.
On the 13th, at a large commercial facility in Namdong-gu, Incheon, 59-year-old Choi Choong-rak went on a rampage with two weapons, injuring eight people.
Choi was taken into custody on charges of attempted murder and carrying a weapon in a public place.
In addition, on the 15th, a man who caused a disturbance by holding a knife and ringing a neighbor's doorbell at an apartment complex in Geomdan-gu, Incheon, was also arrested on charges including carrying a weapon in a public place.
