Police have assigned the case accusing independent Representative Han Dong-hoon of covering up the investigation into his daughter's alleged "fake resume" to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Metropolitan Investigation Unit.

The Metropolitan Crime Investigation Unit under the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Metropolitan Investigation Unit will conduct questioning of the complainant in the case regarding Rep. Han's alleged investigation cover-up at 10 a.m. on October 27.

Previously, multiple civic groups, including the Center for People's Livelihood Economy, filed complaints with the National Office of Investigation against Rep. Han and prosecutors suspected of involvement in suppressing the investigation at the time, charging them with abuse of power and dereliction of duty.

In May 2022, the Anti-Corruption and Public Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency received a complaint regarding allegations surrounding the "fake resume" of Rep. Han's daughter—who was the Minister of Justice at the time—but decided not to forward the case to prosecutors in December of the following year citing reasons such as a lack of charges.

The complainants raised suspicions that in November 2022, police requested the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office to "apply for international criminal judicial cooperation" to secure overseas evidence related to copyright law violations, but the request was blocked by the prosecution.

In addition, regarding the allegations concerning the false credentials of Rep. Han's daughter, they claimed that the police decided not to forward the case without sufficiently investigating the actual volunteer hours, the circumstances of receiving awards, and whether essays were ghostwritten, demanding a thorough reinvestigation even now.

Regarding this, Acting Commissioner General of the Korean National Police Agency Kim Jong-cheol stated during the National Assembly Public Administration and Security Committee audit of the National Police Agency on October 12, "If new facts come to light, we will not rule out the possibility of a full reinvestigation."
