Singer Kim Jang-hoon and Professor Seo Kyoung-duk of Sungshin Women's University produced and released a video titled "The People Who Protected Dokdo" in commemoration of Dokdo Day.
The four-minute video was co-produced with the Gyeongbuk Culture Foundation Contents Promotion Agency. Created in both Korean and English, the video was uploaded to platforms such as YouTube and social media, and is also being shared across Korean overseas and international student communities worldwide.
The video begins with the story of An Yong-bok from the Joseon Dynasty, followed by the activities of the Dokdo Volunteer Forces in the 1950s and the lives of residents who lived on Dokdo. It also introduces the stories of those currently guarding Dokdo from their respective posts, including the Dokdo Management Office, 119 rescue and emergency personnel, the Dokdo Coast Guard, the Dokdo Lighthouse, and the Korea Coast Guard.

Professor Seo, who planned the video, said, "Through this video, I wanted to create content that remembers the people who have protected Dokdo and carries that meaning forward to future generations." He added, "We included characters from 'Gangchi Island,' which was released on Netflix this year, throughout the video so that children can easily understand it."
Kim Jang-hoon, who provided the Korean narration, said, "I am glad to lend my voice to convey the stories of the people who have protected Dokdo up to this day, and I hope many online users at home and abroad will watch it.
