FC Midtjylland, featuring both Hong Hyun-seok and Cho Gue-sung, suffered their first defeat of the 2026-2027 UEFA Conference League (UECL) against Sint-Truiden.
Midtjylland lost 1-0 to Sint-Truiden in the second match of the UECL league phase, held at the MCH Arena in Herning, Denmark.
After struggling to a 1-1 draw in the first match thanks to Cho Gue-sung's equalizer, Midtjylland were tripped up by Sint-Truiden to record their first loss, extending their winless run to two matches (1 draw, 1 loss, 1 point) and dropping to 25th among 36 teams.
On the other hand, Sint-Truiden claimed their second consecutive victory (6 points) and ranked 7th.
Midtjylland faced Sint-Truiden with Hong Hyun-seok starting as a central midfielder and Cho Gue-sung left on the bench.
Hong Hyun-seok missed scoring opportunities when two consecutive shots near the goalmouth missed the target in the 21st minute of the first half, and another shot in the 27th minute was blocked by the goalkeeper.
Instead, Midtjylland fell behind after conceding the opening goal to Sint-Truiden with a header in the 42nd minute of the first half.
Ending the first half scoreless, Midtjylland brought on Cho Gue-sung at the start of the second half while substituting off Hong Hyun-seok to mount a counterattack.

Cho Gue-sung attempted his first right-footed shot near the penalty arc in the 36th minute of the second half, but it missed the left goalpost without finding the back of the net, and Midtjylland ultimately failed to score an equalizer, handing them the defeat.
In another UECL league phase second-round match, Red Star Belgrade (Serbia), where young forward Kim Ye-geon sat out, drew 2-2 with Copenhagen (Denmark).
Kim Ye-geon was left out of the matchday squad for the second consecutive UECL league phase fixture, while his team remained winless in two matches (1 draw, 1 loss, 1 point) and ranked 22nd.
