Professional football club Jeonnam Dragons of K 리그2 (K League 2) has issued an apology to fans after revealing that a drinking and player harassment incident recently occurred within the squad.

Jeonnam posted a statement starting with "We apologize to our fans" on the club's official social media on October 22, stating, "Recently, an unfortunate incident involving drinking and harassment among some players occurred within the squad." The club added, "After verifying the facts, we immediately expelled the relevant party from the team as part of a stern and uncompromising disciplinary stance."

The club further stated, "We will significantly strengthen player management and character education systems to ensure that similar cases do not recur."

It was reported that Player A, who was expelled, repeatedly harassed junior players and recently even committed acts of violence after drinking.

Upon confirming the incident through a report by the victimized player, the club terminated its contract with Player A on October 19.

The Korea Professional Football League requested the Jeonnam club to submit a fact-checking report on October 20 and plans to review whether to convene a disciplinary committee in accordance with relevant regulations.

Jeonnam is currently struggling in 16th place among the 17 teams in K League 2 with 5 wins, 9 draws, and 13 losses (24 points), having managed only 1 win (2 draws, 2 losses) in their last 5 matches.
