Spanish professional football club Real Madrid secured a dominant victory over RB Leipzig of Germany, extending their winning streak to three matches at the start of the UEFA Champions League (UCL) league phase.

Real Madrid defeated Leipzig 4-1 in the home match of the 2026-2027 UCL league phase 3rd matchday held at the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid, Spain, on October 22 (KST).

Real Madrid took the lead just before the 44th minute of the first half with Bernardo Silva scoring his debut goal for the club.

Silva moved from Manchester City of England to Real Madrid ahead of this season.

Shortly after, star striker Kylian Mbappe recorded one goal and one assist, tilting the balance of the match decisively.

In the 7th minute of the second half, Mbappe headed a cross from Jude Bellingham toward the goalmouth, where Arda Guler shook off a defender and slotted it in to make it 2-0.

In the 38th minute of the second half, Mbappe found the back of the net himself, finishing a pass from Ousmane Diomande with a curling shot.

Mbappe has now scored 12 goals in 12 official matches this season and has scored in every match of the UCL thus far, having played three games.

Real Madrid conceded a consolation goal to Tidiam Gomis in the 40th minute of the second half, but Diomande sealed the 3-goal victory in the 42nd minute by finishing off a cross from Brahim Diaz with a volley.

Ahead of El Clasico against FC Barcelona in La Liga over the weekend, Real Madrid maintained their strong momentum by claiming their third consecutive win (9 points) without a loss in the UCL.

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho said, "There is no such thing as confidence for El Clasico," adding, "It is just a league match right now, but it is not the same as any other match."
