As high school student protests in France have escalated into civil unrest, authorities in neighboring Germany are on high alert as youth demonstrations are being anticipated there as well.

According to the daily newspaper Der Tagesspiegel on the 21st local time, an activist group called "Generation Z Rises" has announced plans for large-scale protests across Germany on the 31st.

Posts urging participation in the demonstrations are spreading across social media with slogans such as "Let's strike like the youth in France" and "It is time to resist."

They are mobilizing young people around various issues, including education, the cost of living, youth unemployment, and opposition to the conscription system.

Akram Jelloul, who organized the protests, told the dpa news agency, "We clearly distance ourselves from any form of violence," stating that the demonstrations would be peaceful.

However, posts hinting at violent protests, such as "The French do it first and we follow," have also appeared on social media.

Authorities are on edge because student protests opposing the conscription system have been held regularly of late, and demonstrations have been announced for Halloween, a day that sees violent incidents every year.

On Halloween night last year, young people set fire to barricades and fired fireworks at police, leading to 132 arrests in Berlin alone.

German authorities suspect that left-wing extremist groups are instigating not only the unrest in France but also the regular student protests organized under banners such as opposition to the conscription system.

The conservative daily Die Welt reported that activists from left-wing organizations, including the Socialist German Workers Youth (SDAJ), are participating in the protests under the pretext of "protecting students."

"We will closely examine whether this is a legitimate student protest or an attempt to exploit the Halloween atmosphere for self-interest," said Florian Nath, a spokesperson for the Berlin police.

Joachim Herrmann, the Interior Minister of Bavaria belonging to the center-right Christian Social Union (CSU), asserted, "Far-left extremists and immigrant men are clashing with police on the streets and looting in Paris. We must make every effort to thwart such movements in Germany."
