▲ Man in His 60s Suspected of Attempted Murder of Ex-Wife Attends Warrant Hearing
A man in his 60s who went to his ex-wife, who was receiving police personal protection, and slashed her with a weapon, leaving her in critical condition, was arrested today (October 21).
Judge Kim Ju-gwan, the senior judge in charge of warrants at the Suwon District Court's Seongnam Branch, held a pre-trial suspect interrogation (warrant hearing) for the suspect, identified as A, who faces charges of attempted murder, and issued an arrest warrant.
Judge Kim explained the reason for issuing the warrant, stating, "There are concerns that he may flee and destroy evidence."
Earlier today at around 10 a.m., suspect A emerged from the Bundang Police Station in Gyeonggi Province wearing a gray long-sleeved t-shirt and without a mask.
He did not answer questions from reporters, such as "When did you plan the crime?" and "Why did you go to your former sister-in-law's house? Did you intend to kill her as well?", before boarding a transport vehicle headed to the court.
Suspect A is accused of waiting in front of the front door of his 60s ex-wife B's home in Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, at around 8:05 a.m. on October 19, and then forcing his way in and wielding a weapon when B opened the door to leave for work.
Having fled immediately after the crime, he was emergency-arrested by police about two hours later while wandering around with a weapon in front of the home of B's older sister in Jungrang-gu, Seoul.
B, who was severely injured, has remained unconscious as of today.
