Dramas presented by Studio S and SBS this year have completely captivated global markets beyond South Korea, proving unrivaled K-drama production competitiveness.
Studio S and SBS placed a total of four works released this year—'Doctor X: Mafia in White,' 'Agent Kim Reactivated,' 'My Royal Nemesis,' and 'Sold Out on You'—at the number one spot on Netflix's global non-English TV shows chart.
SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Doctor X: Mafia in White,' starring Kim Ji-won, which has been on a recent box office streak, climbed to the global top just three days after its release while claiming the number one spot for two consecutive weeks in the rankings tallied from October 5 to 18. Recording a cumulative 9.9 million viewing hours in its first week, it is showcasing an unrivaled presence in the global market.
'Agent Kim Reactivated,' starring So Jisub, also claimed the global number one spot for three consecutive weeks, landing in the Top 10 every week from its first episode to its finale. 'My Royal Nemesis,' starring Lim Ji-yeon and Heo Nam-jun, and 'Sold Out on You,' starring Ahn Hyo Seop and Chae Won-been, likewise not only rose to global number one but also maintained their places in the Top 10 throughout their broadcasts, carrying out long-running box office success races.
Studio S CEO Hong Sung-chang stated, "Thanks to the enthusiastic love and support of domestic and international viewers, we were able to achieve meaningful results not only domestically but also in the global market. I express my deep gratitude." He added, "It seems that the passionate performances of the actors, the refreshing catharsis unique to SBS dramas, and the power of differentiated stories in each work resonated with viewers around the world, including 'Sold Out on You,' 'My Royal Nemesis,' 'Agent Kim Reactivated,' and 'Doctor X,' which captured the world within just the first week of its release." He then remarked, "Without resting on the laurels of the meaningful interest and support sent by viewers worldwide, we will continue to repay viewers' expectations with sincere and high-quality content."
Having successively produced four global number-one hits and standing at the vanguard of K-content, Studio S and SBS plan to continue targeting the global market with diverse subjects and high-quality productions moving forward.
