The parliamentary audit of the Ulsan Metropolitan Government by the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee, held at Ulsan City Hall today (October 21), was disrupted after lawmakers of the ruling People Power Party (PPP) walked out en masse to protest Ulsan Mayor Kim Sang-wook's demeanor while answering questions.

During the session, PPP lawmakers focused their questioning on Mayor Kim's YouTube broadcast activities and past remarks, his stance on the proposed consolidation of port authorities, and issues regarding the appointment of honorary ambassadors for Ulsan.

Representative Seo Myung-ok pointed out that Mayor Kim had used harsh language on YouTube in the past and made inappropriate comments directed at the heads of local media organizations.

She went on to criticize Mayor Kim for taking a passive stance regarding the government's push to consolidate port authorities.

When Mayor Kim took the podium and made remarks regarding the nature of the parliamentary audit, backlash ensued from PPP lawmakers.

Representative Seo raised a point of order, taking issue with Mayor Kim's answering attitude and asking the committee chairperson to issue a warning.

In response, Mayor Kim stated that he hoped the parliamentary audit would be conducted within the scope prescribed by law and in accordance with its intended purpose.

Representative Joo Ho-young raised concerns about Mayor Kim's personal YouTube activities and his use of government office buildings, while also noting that citizens have raised criticisms regarding the recent appointment of promotional ambassadors.

Mayor Kim explained that his YouTube activities are intended to inform the public about city policies and take place outside of working hours.

Regarding the appointment of promotional ambassadors, he replied that it was meant to promote the International Garden Exposition.

He then reiterated his position that the parliamentary audit room should not become a place for scolding.

Angered by Mayor Kim's answering attitude, PPP lawmakers staged a collective walkout.
