During a parliamentary audit of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC) and other related organizations by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee of the National Assembly, controversies surrounding the KSOC's inadequate response and unfair disciplinary actions regarding a past live ammunition leak at the Jincheon National Training Center came under intense scrutiny.

Representative Jin Sun-mee of the Democratic Party of Korea pointed out that during the internal audit and disciplinary process regarding the leakage of 10,000 rounds of practice ammunition at the Jincheon National Training Center in February 2025, "the head of the training planning department concurrently serving as the head of the training headquarters—who was the direct superior within the shooting range management system at the time—was excluded from the audit targets."

Criticizing the decision, Representative Jin stated, "It is difficult to agree that he escaped disciplinary action on the grounds that the system was merely formal because he had never received a single report in 15 years. At the very least, he should have inspected the overall shooting range and received a report at least once."

In particular, the fact that the official in question was promoted to deputy secretary-general following the inauguration of KSOC President Yoo Seung-min was also raised as an issue.

Representative Jin remarked, "The deputy secretary-general in question is the person who instructed that a press release stating 'there is no problem' be issued to the media after becoming aware of the leakage fact. When a working-level staff member submitted a request for recusal against the deputy secretary-general during the disciplinary committee, the deputy secretary-general instead maintained his position, and ultimately only the working-level employee who drafted the press release was disciplined."

In response, KSOC President Yoo Seung-min explained, "When I ordered a full-scale inspection after last year's parliamentary audit, a report stating that 'there are no problems' was submitted internally, which led to the issuance of the press release," while also acknowledging, "I understand that there were issues in the reporting chain among the former training center director, the management headquarters head, and the department head at the time."

President Yoo expressed his intent to reinvestigate, stating, "Taking the criticisms seriously, we will thoroughly re-examine internal procedures and take stern measures if any irregularities are confirmed."
