A sexual assault damages lawsuit filed against OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, 41, by his younger sister has been dismissed by a U.S. court.
According to Reuters on the 20th (local time), the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri in St. Louis dismissed the damages lawsuit filed by Altman's sister, Annie Altman.
In its dismissal ruling, the court stated that the plaintiff refused the court's order to attend an independent medical evaluation despite warnings that the case could be dismissed if she failed to comply.
Previously, Annie Altman filed the lawsuit in January of last year, claiming that she had suffered persistent sexual abuse, including rape, by her older brother—who is nine years her senior—at their home in Missouri for about 10 years starting in 1997 when she was three years old.
In response, CEO Altman and other family members completely denied the allegations, explaining that his sister has been experiencing mental health difficulties.
Spokespersons for both sides did not issue any specific statements regarding the dismissal ruling.
However, Santos Perez, Annie's former legal representative who resigned earlier this month, said, "While I no longer have the authority to comment on this case, I still believe Annie."
