A man in his 70s has died after being struck by a train on the Gyeongbu Line tracks near Sasang Station in Busan.

According to police and fire authorities, the accident occurred at around 9:45 PM yesterday (October 20), when a man in his 70s, identified as A, was hit by a Mugunghwa train while walking along the shoulder of the southbound tracks near Sasang Station on the Gyeongbu Line.

The train, carrying about 20 passengers, had departed from Daejeon and was heading toward Busan Station.

Train operations were temporarily halted in the wake of the accident and resumed past midnight.

Police plan to investigate how A entered the tracks and the exact cause of the accident, using CCTV footage and statements from relevant individuals.
