Ven. Jinwoo, the head of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, has appointed Ven. Seoksan as the head abbot of Bongeunsa Temple, a direct-management temple of the order.

His term of office is two years.

Ven. Seoksan received his novice ordination in 1996 with Ven. Subul as his preceptor. He has previously served as the head monk of Geumgangsa Temple, Anguk Seonwon, Yulha Seonwon, and Ugoksa Temple, as well as a member of the 18th Central Jonghoe (parliament of the order).

According to the Jogye Order, Ven. Jinwoo stated, "Bongeunsa is an important direct-management temple of our order and holds a significant position as a center of public interest and spiritual guidance for Buddhists. Please strive to ensure that Bongeunsa fulfills its role as a landmark of Korean Buddhism." In response, Ven. Seoksan pledged, "I will do my utmost to lead Bongeunsa Temple."
