Han Da-kyung has set a new Korean record in the women's 400-meter freestyle.
Han claimed the title by beating Park Hee-kyung with a national record time of 4 minutes and 9.23 seconds in the women's open 400-meter freestyle final at the 107th National Sports Festival, held at the Jeju Stadium swimming pool in Jeju.
Han broke the previous Korean record of 4 minutes and 9.65 seconds, which had been set by Park Hee-kyung in August of this year at the 45th President's Cup National Swimming Competition, two months prior.
This marks the first national record set in the swimming events of this year's competition.
Han is a leading middle- and long-distance freestyle swimmer who won bronze medals in the women's 800-meter freestyle relay at both the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games and the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
She also holds the national records for the women's 800-meter and 1,500-meter events.
Having already won the women's open 800-meter freestyle on the 18th, Han secured her second gold medal of the competition.
