JYP Entertainment founder, public-private committee chair for popular culture exchange, and singer Park Jin-young has been named to this year's list of "Korea's Donors: The Givers 50," selected by JoongAng Ilbo's public service section The Butter.
The Butter released the fifth batch of 10 names for the 2026 The Givers 50 on October 15. The list includes Park Jin-young, along with Kang Tae-ho, Kim Min-jun, Kim Min-hee, Na Yoon-chul, Jung Se-rang, Choi Eun-kwang, Choi Hye-yeon, Choi Hong-geun, and Hwang Dong-sub. With this announcement, all 50 selected individuals for this year have been revealed, bringing the cumulative total to 100 including last year's honorees. Park's side shared the news via social media.
The Givers 50 is part of "Pie Week," a campaign hosted by The Butter to promote a culture of giving. It selects and introduces 50 donors who have practiced sharing over a long period, based on recommendations from non-profit organizations participating in Pie Week. The Butter stated that the selection process comprehensively evaluates sustainability, attitude, stories, impact, and diversity rather than just the donation amount.
According to The Butter, Park felt a deeper sympathy for sick children after becoming the father of two daughters, thinking of parents who not only struggle with their child being ill but also have to worry about treatment costs. Since 2022, Park has personally donated 1 billion won every year, totaling 4 billion won, and plans to donate an additional 1 billion won at the end of this year. The donations have been delivered to 12 domestic hospitals and children in need across 7 overseas countries through World Vision and medical institutions, with at least 902 patients receiving treatment so far.
JYP also stated in a social media post, "Since 2022, J.Y. Park has donated 1 billion won annually to domestic medical institutions and World Vision for medical expenses for children and adolescents. These precious donations are being used to support the treatment of young patients at 12 hospitals nationwide and in 7 countries overseas, delivering warm hope to over 900 children so far."
The 1 billion won donated by Park in December of last year was distributed with 200 million won each to Gachon University Gil Medical Center, Konyang University Hospital, and Seoul National University Children's Hospital, and 400 million won to World Vision. The funds delivered to World Vision were allocated to support medical treatment for young patients in Mexico and Brazil, as well as recovery and child support in Asian regions affected by floods and landslides, such as Thailand, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka.
In September, Park also donated a total of 550 million won for vulnerable children in Mexico. JYP Entertainment contributed 450 million won and Park provided 100 million won from his personal funds, which were delivered through World Vision Mexico and World Vision Korea. Afterward, Park visited Mexico on a personal schedule and delivered the donation directly to a non-profit specialized ophthalmic medical institution in Mexico City. This donation is part of JYP's corporate social responsibility initiative "EDM (Every Dream Matters!)," and the funds will be used to provide specialized medical support for vulnerable children in Mexico.
