Police are reviewing plans to conduct a psychopath test on Choi Choong-rak, who has been taken into custody on charges of attempting to kill 10 people with a weapon at a large commercial complex in Incheon.

According to police on October 19, the Incheon Namdong Police Station is considering administering a Psychopathy Checklist-Revised (PCL-R) test to Choi, who was detained on charges of attempted murder and carrying a weapon in a public place.

Police deem it highly necessary to assess his antisocial traits, taking into account that Choi targeted customers at the commercial complex whom he had never met before and stated that he went after people who appeared weaker than him.

Police plan to deploy profilers to quantify his personality traits, such as impulsivity, lack of empathy, and irresponsibility.

Police previously sent a large amount of drugs that Choi was carrying at the time of the crime to the National Forensic Service to determine if they were illicit substances, but it was confirmed that no drug components were detected.

Tests conducted using samples of his urine and hair also showed no traces of drugs.

Police plan to thoroughly investigate whether Choi planned the crime and attempted to flee while analyzing various materials secured from previous search and seizure operations.

However, police stated that location tracking data from the electronic monitoring anklet location information system, secured through a search and seizure at the Incheon Probation Office Seobu Branch, did not reveal any evidence that Choi pre-inspected the crime scene.

Choi is accused of attempting to kill 10 customers with a weapon at around 1:48 PM on October 13 inside the C&C building, a large commercial complex in Guwol-dong, Namdong-gu, Incheon, which houses a large supermarket and a cinema.

Among the victims, eight were classified as injured, including a 19-year-old woman in an unconscious state, while two others were found to be unhurt.
