A woman in her 30s has been arrested by police for setting fire to the parking lot of a multi-family housing building in Munjeong-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul, while intoxicated.

The Seoul Songpa Police Station announced that it has arrested and is currently investigating a woman in her 30s, identified as A, on charges of arson of a building currently in human use.

A is suspected of starting a fire on the first-floor parking lot of the multi-family housing building in Munjeong-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul, at around 12:37 AM today (October 18).

The fire, which broke out in a pilotis-style parking lot, left eight residents with minor injuries such as smoke inhalation, and completely destroyed three vehicles.

Twenty residents evacuated on their own.

Police believe that A was under the influence of alcohol when she set fire to cardboard boxes piled up inside the parking lot, and are considering filing for an arrest warrant for her.
