Police conducted a search and seizure at the home of 59-year-old stabbing suspect Choi Choong-rak in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon, starting at 8:00 a.m. today (the 17th) for about an hour and a half.
Choi, who accompanied officers to the search site, did not answer any questions, including whether he had planned the crime in advance.
[(Did you plan the crime in advance?) ......]
It is suspected that on the morning of the crime, Choi packed a weapon, a pair of scissors, and a hammer into his backpack before leaving his home.
Having secured notebooks and documents from Choi's residence, the police plan to intensively investigate whether the crime was premeditated and uncover his motive.
Having deployed a profiler once to question Choi, the police are considering deploying additional profilers.
During police questioning, Choi reportedly claimed that he "had grievances with the hospital where he received treatment for a skin condition and wanted to publicize this to society."
Choi is also known to have stated to police that he "targeted people who appeared weaker than him."
Choi, who is accused of attempting to murder 10 visitors with a weapon at a complex shopping mall in Guwol-dong, Incheon, on the 13th, was arrested yesterday on charges of attempted murder and carrying a weapon in a public place.
Among the citizens attacked with the weapon at the time, eight were injured, and a 19-year-old woman among them remains unconscious.
