The Los Angeles Dodgers, seeking their third consecutive World Series title, have been eliminated from the National League Championship Series after suffering a stunning four-game sweep at the hands of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Shohei Ohtani, who had been mired in a severe slump, hit a home run for the first time in two months, but it was not enough.

After being dropped to the sixth spot in the batting order yesterday (October 15) due to his deep hitting slump, Ohtani returned to the leadoff spot just a day later. In the second inning, he sent a cutter from his former teammate, Milwaukee's May, over the right-center field wall for a three-run shot.

Clearing the fence for the first time in two months since August 19, Ohtani let go of his pent-up frustration with an unusually large celebration.

However, the Dodgers pitching staff failed to protect a 4-0 lead and collapsed.

Beginning in the fourth inning, the Dodgers surrendered a barrage of hits, including two home runs, to the Milwaukee offense, resulting in a 6-4 comeback loss. With the defeat, the Dodgers were eliminated with four straight losses, while the Brewers advanced to the World Series for the first time in 44 years.
