▲ The electronic board at the dealing room of the Hana Bank headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, displays the KOSPI, KOSDAQ, and won-dollar exchange rate on the 16th. The KOSPI is showing a rise of over 1% in the early session.
As the KOSDAQ surged more than 5% during trading just one day after a sharp decline, a buy sidecar—a temporary suspension of program buy orders—has been triggered in the KOSDAQ market.
At 12:55 p.m. today (the 16th), the effects of program buy orders were suspended for 5 minutes due to fluctuations in the KOSDAQ 150 futures price and the KOSDAQ 150 index.
At the time of activation, the KOSDAQ 150 futures had risen 77.80 points, or 6.02%, compared to the previous day's closing price, and the KOSDAQ 150 index was up 72.59 points, or 5.65%.
The previous day, a sell sidecar and a circuit breaker were triggered consecutively in the KOSDAQ market, and the index closed sharply lower in the 7% range.
However, just a day later, the KOSDAQ is currently up in the 5% range, recovering the 800 mark.
A KOSDAQ sidecar is triggered when the KOSDAQ 150 futures price rises by 6% or more and the KOSDAQ 150 index rises by 3% or more compared to the final figure of the previous trading day, with both conditions persisting for 1 minute simultaneously.
