It has been learned that the man in his 50s who went on a stabbing rampage in Incheon stated during police questioning that he targeted people who appeared powerless. Additional CCTV footage obtained by reporters confirms that this was indeed the case.

The brutal crime committed by the suspect, surnamed Choi, in Guwol-dong, Incheon, began in the restaurant area on the second floor of a multi-purpose commercial building.

Choi, with weapons bound to both hands, lunged at a female restaurant employee, instantly turning a peaceful routine into a scene of terror.

Startled citizens began scattering amidst screams, and Choi pursued them with a fast pace, much like a predator chasing its prey.

[Oh my goodness, what do we do? Oh my goodness, why is he doing that?]

The owners of a snack bar, who faced Choi with long umbrellas in a moment of panic, pulled down their store's shutter and called 112.

[Please come quickly. This is no lie, you need to come quickly. People are getting hurt and it's chaos right now.]

As the indiscriminate stabbing spree continued,

one citizen who fought back against Choi by throwing a chair fell while dodging the weapon and tumbled down toward the lower part of the escalator.

When citizens holding chairs gathered one by one to close in on him,

Choi then stepped onto a descending escalator and headed back up to the fourth floor, where a movie theater is located.

Moments later, Choi collapsed after being hit by something. The person who threw a chair at Choi from the fourth floor was 23-year-old Shin Jung-hyun, who had come to watch a movie with his girlfriend.

Citizens on the third floor subdued the unconscious Choi with chairs and other objects, and with the police arriving on the scene, the five-minute indiscriminate stabbing rampage finally came to an end.

It was learned during police questioning that Choi stated, "I chose people who looked weaker than me."

Regarding the five citizens who risked their danger to help apprehend Choi, police stated, "We will take measures to ensure they receive appropriate rewards."
