Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels claimed on the 14th (local time) that they launched consecutive ballistic missile attacks targeting the international airport in the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh and a gathering of Saudi military forces.

Yahya Saree, the military spokesperson for the Houthis, wrote on the social media platform X, "The Yemeni armed forces successfully struck King Khalid International Airport in Saudi Arabia's capital, Riyadh, with a ballistic missile," adding, "The missile accurately hit its target."

He added that a separate military operation was conducted in addition to the airport attack.

Saree emphasized, "Our forces also fired three ballistic missiles targeting a gathering of Saudi enemy forces in the areas of Ras al-Ara and Al-Mudharaba," stressing, "This too was a successful precision strike."

He further stated that this strike on the troop gathering caused "massive casualties and incapacitated numerous military vehicles."

The Houthis' announcement came just hours after the Saudi-led coalition stated that it had intercepted a projectile flying toward Riyadh.

The Saudi government has not released an official stance regarding specific damages, such as the casualties claimed by the Houthis.

However, Saudi state media earlier reported that debris from the missile interception fell in a civilian area, injuring one person.

Previously in Saudi Arabia, King Khalid International Airport was targeted by the Houthis on the 10th as well, resulting in a disaster that left 13 multinational civilians dead and over 300 injured.

With armed provocations targeting Riyadh continuing unabated—including an unidentified projectile striking the airport terminal the very next day on the 11th, causing a flurry of casualties—security crises within Saudi Arabia are escalating.
