The fact-finding team of the Prosecutors' Office Human Rights Respect Future Committee, which investigates suspicions of the abuse of prosecutorial investigative powers, will report its investigation results on the first three selected cases to the committee members for the first time.
The Future Committee's fact-finding team is scheduled to report the results of the fact-finding investigations into three cases—the Wirye New Town incident involving President Lee Jae-myung, the Moon Jae-in government's statistics manipulation incident, and the West Sea public official death incident—at the Future Committee meeting to be held tomorrow (the 15th).
Based on the fact-finding results, the Future Committee plans to review whether there were human rights violations or abuses of authority in the process of exercising prosecutorial power.
If it determines that there are problems, the Future Committee can issue measures and recommendations for preventing recurrence and restoring damages.
The Wirye New Town incident is a suspicion that President Lee Jae-myung provided various conveniences and internal information to developers during the promotion of the Wirye development project.
Regarding this case, President Lee was indicted on charges including violation of the Anti-Corruption Act, and the trial has been suspended since his inauguration as president.
The statistics manipulation incident is a suspicion that figures in the Moon Jae-in administration manipulated major national statistics such as real estate.
The West Sea public official death incident is a suspicion that the Moon Jae-in administration concealed and downplayed the 2020 killing of Lee Dae-jun by the North Korean military in the West Sea as a voluntary defection to North Korea.
The Prosecutors' Office Future Committee was launched in June to ascertain the truth behind suspected cases of human rights violations and abuses of prosecutorial power by the prosecution.
In addition to the three cases, the first-round investigation target cases include ▲ the Ssangbangwool illegal remittance to North Korea incident, ▲ the Daejang-dong incident, ▲ the incident involving former Minjoo Research Institute Vice President Kim Yong, and ▲ the suspicion of false reporting regarding the defamation of Yoon Suk Yeol.
The second-round investigation target cases include ▲ the Seongnam FC incident, ▲ the Baekhyeon-dong incident, ▲ the suspicion of Gyeonggi Province corporate card misuse, ▲ the subornation of perjury incident in the trial of former Minjoo Research Institute Vice President Kim Yong, ▲ the wrongful search and seizure of former High Prosecutors' Office Head Lim Jeong-hyuk's law office over the suspicion of covering up the Baekhyeon-dong investigation, ▲ the Moon Jae-in administration's ordered investigation into the Ulsan mayoral election intervention, ▲ the former President Moon Jae-in's son-in-law incident, ▲ the suspicion of Blue House planned investigations, ▲ the Kim Hak-hee departure ban incident, ▲ the former Daegu City Economic Vice Mayor Kim Yeon-chang incident, ▲ the investigation into Coupang's unpaid severance pay, and ▲ incidents related to Dayou Winia Group's unpaid wages.
