Regarding the apprehension of the ringleader and accomplices running an illegal online gambling site after 10 years on the run abroad, President Lee Jae-myung stated, "We will track down criminals to the end, extradite them back home, and thoroughly recover criminal proceeds."

President Lee posted a link on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday (October 14) to a news report about a pan-government special task force on transnational crime collaborating with United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities to arrest the ringleader and others locally and repatriate them to South Korea, remarking, "Hiding overseas does not allow anyone to escape the judgment of the law."

He added, "This is an achievement made possible by close cooperation between the task force and the UAE government."

He continued, "I express deep gratitude to the UAE government," noting, "On behalf of our people, I also convey sincere thanks to President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan."

President Lee pledged, "We will track down criminals to the end, extradite them back home, and thoroughly recover criminal proceeds," adding, "We will respond thoroughly to cross-border crimes to protect the everyday lives of our people."

President Lee also cited an article on X reporting that the real-time transmission of GPS-based operation records for private ambulances has been made mandatory to eradicate "fake ambulances," writing, "'Fake ambulances' will now disappear." He urged the public, "From now on, when you see an ambulance sounding an emergency siren, please do not doubt it and yield the right of way."
