President Lee Jae-myung has appointed National Tax Service Commissioner Lim Gwang-hyun as his new presidential chief of staff.

Announcing the decision during a press briefing, his predecessor, Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik, introduced the new chief of staff as "a politician from an economic bureaucracy background who served as a member of the 22nd National Assembly and as head of the National Tax Service, combining extensive administrative experience with political acumen."

Kang added, "We expect him to carry out the president's calls for livelihood recovery and social reform, and help build a Republic of Korea where all citizens prosper together."
