The first-instance sentencing trial for independent Representative Kang Sun-oo, who was indicted on charges of violating the Political Funds Act in connection with a "100 million won nomination donation," will be held at 1:30 p.m. today (October 14).

During the previous sentencing hearing, prosecutors demanded a four-year prison term and an additional collection of 100 million won for Rep. Kang, stating that she "undermined public trust by treating the recommendation of public office candidates as a subject of financial transactions." They also sought a two-year prison term for former city councilor Kim Kyeong.

Rep. Kang was indicted and detained on charges of receiving a shopping bag containing 100 million won in cash from former Councilor Kim at a hotel in Seoul in January 2022.
