It was belatedly revealed that a man in his 60s, who murdered a woman in her 40s after she had reported him for stalking and sexual violence in Jeju, drank pesticide before he was captured.

According to the Jeju Western Police Station, the 60s male suspect, identified as A, stated that he drank pesticide kept in his vehicle prior to his emergency arrest on October 12.

He subsequently complained of health issues while being placed in a detention center following the emergency arrest.

Police provided A with medical examinations twice, and according to the test results and a doctor's diagnosis, he is currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit.

A was once in a critical condition, but is reportedly maintaining a stable condition now.

However, determining that it would be difficult for the suspect to fully recover within the 48-hour arrest time limit, police released him for medical treatment and hospitalization on the afternoon of October 13. They plan to resecure his custody and reapply for an arrest warrant once he recovers his health and is discharged.

Police plan to station detectives around the clock during the suspect's hospitalization to prevent escape and self-harm, ensuring thorough monitoring without any administrative gaps.

A is suspected of fatally stabbing his former romantic partner, a woman in her 40s identified as B, with a weapon on the street in front of a hotel in Yeon-dong, Jeju, at around 1:38 AM on October 12.

Investigations revealed that B had reported A a total of four times between October of last year and May of this year for stalking, sexual violence, and dating violence.
