A random stabbing rampage took place at a large shopping complex in Incheon this afternoon. A man in his 60s, wielding weapons in both hands, attacked passing citizens, leaving one person in cardiac arrest and seven others injured and receiving treatment.

People urgently run out of a shopping mall corridor and frantically shut doors in shock.

Moments later, a man holding weapons walks past at a fast pace.

Reports of a stabbing incident were received at around 1:40 p.m. today at a large shopping complex located in Guwol-dong, Namdong-gu, Incheon.

Injured victims emerged across various floors of the complex, ranging from the first basement level to the third floor above ground, with a total of eight people confirmed to have been transported to hospitals so far.

One woman in her 20s was found in a state of cardiac arrest and is currently undergoing treatment.

Police who arrived at the scene following the report arrested a man in his 60s, identified as A, as the suspect at the scene.

According to reports, suspect A wielded weapons in both hands, moving from the basement of the shopping center while riding the escalator and indiscriminately slashing at people.

[Kang Byung-hoon / Eyewitness : I was thinking, 'What is this?', and suddenly a middle-aged man was standing right behind me holding a weapon. He said, 'Hey, keep this door locked, it's dangerous'...]

Eyewitnesses described the situation, stating, "At the time of the crime, suspect A did not say a single word, and the victims were completely helpless," adding, "Citizens joined forces and barely managed to subdue him."

[Na Hyun-jun / Eyewitness : He just lashed out randomly for no reason. He just kept stabbing. He didn't say anything at all. We kept blocking him with chairs and eventually managed to subdue him...]

Police plan to investigate suspect A regarding the exact motive behind the crime and subsequently apply for an arrest warrant.
