National Tax Service Commissioner Lim Gwang-hyun stated today (13th) that he will operate national tax administration to build a fair, rational, and future-ready agency.

Commissioner Lim made the remarks while reporting on operational status during the National Tax Service parliamentary audit held by the National Assembly's Finance, Economy and Budget Committee at the Government Complex Sejong.

He emphasized, "The accumulated tax revenue through August stood at 323.8 trillion won, an increase of 68.6 trillion won compared to the previous year," adding, "We will stably secure national finances by expanding support for faithful reporting on major tax items in the second half of the year, conducting meticulous tax base management, and strengthening activities to collect high-value arrears."

He also added, "We will efficiently and responsibly manage the entirety of national fiscal revenues by having the National Tax Service integrally collect non-tax national revenues that are currently managed in a decentralized manner."

He stressed that the agency will faithfully support legislative procedures, such as providing explanations for bills aimed at enacting the "Act on the Collection and Management of Arrears in Non-Tax National Revenues" within the year.

He also stated that a total of 9,500 fixed-term worker status verification agents will be deployed across 133 tax offices nationwide to operate joint tax and non-tax national revenue arrears management units at the tax office level.

Commissioner Lim warned, "We will thoroughly investigate and sternly crack down on anti-social real estate tax evasion that causes public outrage, anomalous tax evasion that undermines capital market order, and tax evasion involving the private enjoyment of corporate assets such as luxury homes and supercars."

He further noted, "We will track down and collect intelligent offshore tax evasion, such as acquiring overseas assets through the unconventional outflow of corporate funds, to the bitter end," and stated, "To this end, we will establish a new 'Special Task Force Linking Tax Investigations and Arrears Tracking'."

He stated that innovations incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) across overall national tax administration—including taxpayer service, fair taxation, and tax administration efficiency—will be pursued in phases.

For rational personnel management and fair compensation, he noted that following the ad-hoc promotions in August, a large-scale regular promotion will also be pursued in November.

It was decided to respond to unusual civil complaints such as verbal abuse and violence at the organizational level through an "Employee Protection Legal Team," and to expand the deployment of security personnel.

Commissioner Lim said, "Humbly listening to the criticisms and suggestions provided by the committee members so that today's session can serve as an opportunity for national tax administration to develop a step further, we will faithfully reflect them in future operations."
