Song Baek-kyung, formerly of the group 1TYM, has publicly expressed displeasure over video content that used fortune-telling to address the life and death of Perry, a former YG Entertainment producer who has been missing for a long time.
On October 12, Song shared a captured image from a fortune-telling video posted by a shaman on his social media, stating, "I didn't really want to watch the video, but I happened to see it. And it honestly made my skin crawl." He went on to criticize, "After asking all sorts of questions and reading the room, is that what you have to say? What do you know that gives you the right to casually talk about the living and the dead and someone else's life?"
In the controversial video, the shaman looked at a picture of Perry and made remarks implying his death, such as, "His face looks pitch black. Is he even alive?" and "It seems like this person is no longer here." Without any specific basis, the shaman also claimed, "It looks like he went down a bad path" and "A needle was visible." Song retorted, "I can see something pitch black right before my eyes, too. That's the dark inside of your heart, ajumma."
Perry is a producer who helped lead the early hip-hop color of YG Entertainment, starting by participating in Jinusean's debut album in 1997 and subsequently working on songs for 1TYM, Se7en, Lexy, Wheesung, and BIGBANG. He has been out of contact for about 16 years, with his last reported sighting in Los Angeles (LA), USA, in 2010.
In 2021, an individual claiming to be Perry's nephew stated that they had filed a missing person report with the U.S. Department of State, and recently, the production team of SBS's Unanswered Questions requested public tips to track down his whereabouts, drawing renewed attention.
Previously in July, Song posted a writing on his blog expressing his longing for Perry and even revealed an unreleased 24-year-old track that he had been working on together with Perry.
He added, "Perry and I had promised that he would write the verse rap and I would make the hook, but it fizzled out. I am posting this briefly for those who are curious about Perry's recent status and miss his voice. I pray for Perry's health and well-being."
