The film 'The Assassin(s)' has reclaimed the No. 1 spot at the box office in just one day.
According to the integrated computer network tally by the Korean Film Council on October 13, 'The Assassin(s)' drew 30,675 moviegoers nationwide on October 12. After briefly losing the top spot to the Japanese animated film 'Chiikawa the Movie: Mystery of the Mermaid Island' by a margin of about 200 viewers on Sunday, October 12, 'The Assassin(s)' recaptured the top position in a single day. 'Chiikawa the Movie: Mystery of the Mermaid Island' attracted 30,094 viewers on the same day.
Released on September 23, 'The Assassin(s)' reached the 3 million viewer milestone 20 days after its release. Although it faced a challenging situation from the very beginning due to controversies over historical distortion, the film achieved meaningful results by surpassing 3 million admissions driven by its own merit. As it enters its fourth week of release and a decline in audience numbers begins, the film will attempt to surpass its break-even point (approximately 3.7 million viewers) this coming weekend.
Late-stage momentum is now essential. With no more holiday tailwinds, the key will be how many more audiences the film can attract through word-of-mouth and buzz.
