Cha Tae-hyun shared his honest thoughts on Jeon Yi-su's performance.

On the October 12 broadcast of SBS's "The Ballad of Us Season 2" (hereinafter "The Ballad of Us 2"), the first-round competition continued from the previous week.

The episode drew attention with the appearance of a contestant who surprised everyone: Jeon Yi-su, a former prodigy fairy tale writer.

Everyone could not hide their astonishment at the appearance of Jeon Yi-su, who had previously gained public recognition by appearing on SBS's "Prodigy Discovery Squad".

Introducing himself as a painter, writer, and a boy from Jeju who loves music, Jeon Yi-su said, "If you can convey your true feelings and the beauty of music through song, I think that means you are good at singing."

He selected Patti Kim's "You Are My Friend," explaining that the friend mentioned in the song refers to his younger siblings, calling them "the biggest and most precious gift my mother gave me."

Regarding Jeon Yi-su's unexpected performance, Jung Jae-hyung candidly remarked, "To be honest, I didn't expect much. I didn't expect to like the kind of music Jeon Yi-su likes."

He continued, "However, isn't this what music is supposed to be? It was primal and unrefined. And by the end of the song, I even found myself wishing I could listen a little longer. I think we all fell under that spell."

He added, "Listening to his song made me feel as if I were standing in the middle of a wide field. He is different from any competitor I've experienced so far, which made me want to see more of him."

Meanwhile, Cha Tae-hyun, who has known Jeon Yi-su well for a long time, opened up by saying, "To be honest, I prayed that the lights wouldn't turn on. The reason was that I just wanted a lot of people to see Yi-su's music in this exact setting."

He continued, "Is it right for Yi-su to go on and face the competition required in the next round? Yi-su seems to live in a different world from us, so what does he really have to gain by competing here?" expressing concern that Yi-su might be tainted by this world.

At the same time, he added, "On the other hand, I also hoped that other friends could encounter a different world through Yi-su. Even if you hear bad things, don't listen to them and just do what you want to do," offering heartfelt advice.

Drawing attention, Joo Woo-jae remarked, "However, judging by the patterns of the jeans, boots, and shirt you are wearing right now, it doesn't seem like you are completely uninterested in worldly things. Even your outfit follows recent trends," adding, "I got the feeling that he will navigate this competition smoothly and well."
