The heated race for the most hits in this year's professional baseball regular season came to an end with Victor Reyes of the Lotte Giants taking the crown.
Reyes delivered a stellar performance in the game against the Doosan Bears at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on October 12, going 5-for-4 with one home run and two RBIs.
Entering today's game leading the category with 207 hits for the season, Reyes fended off the challenge from KT Wiz player Choi Won-jun by a margin of three hits to secure the most hits title for the third consecutive year.
After joining Lotte in 2024, Reyes recorded 202 hits that year, breaking the previous KBO League single-season record of 201 hits set by Seo Geon-chang of the Kiwoom Heroes in 2014.
Having defended his hits title last year with 187 hits as well, Reyes swung his bat even more fiercely when competitors emerged this season.
After engaging in a tight race for the most hits with Choi Won-jun until the final stretch of the season, he added four hits on the very last day of the regular season to reach the unprecedented milestone of 210 hits in the KBO League.
Reyes also added the meaningful record of playing in every single game (144 games) for three consecutive seasons.
Over the span of three years, Reyes showcased his prowess as a true hitting machine with a total of 600 hits, averaging 200 hits per year.
Choi Won-jun also chased Reyes until the end today, going 6-for-3, but Reyes' batting momentum proved to be even hotter.
