A 90-year-old elderly driver has caused a crash while driving a passenger car, leaving one person dead and two others injured.

The Seoul Gwangjin Police Station announced today (October 12) that they are investigating a 90-year-old man, surnamed A, on charges of causing death under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Settlement of Traffic Accidents.

At around 11:50 a.m. today, A was driving his passenger car near the Children's Grand Park Intersection in Gwangjin-gu when he successively crashed into a motorcycle and a taxi traveling ahead of him.

The accident resulted in the death of a male motorcyclist in his 40s, while two others—the taxi driver and another motorcyclist—sustained injuries.

No signs of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs were found in A.

Police reported that A stated during the investigation, "I stepped on the brakes, but they did not work."

Police are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
