A woman in her 20s participating in the 2026 Seoul Marathon held in Jongno-gu, Seoul, last Sunday has died after collapsing during the race.

According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government today (October 12), the participant, identified as A, collapsed near Gwancheol-dong in Jongno-gu, Seoul, at around 8:50 a.m. yesterday.

Race officials who discovered A called 119 and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) at the scene, but she was transported to a nearby hospital without regaining consciousness.

A ultimately passed away this afternoon while receiving treatment at the hospital.

The organizers are looking into the exact cause of death.
