King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which suffered 13 deaths from an attack by pro-Iranian Houthi rebels, has been attacked again just a day later, resulting in 12 casualties. The United States, which has previously provided only indirect support, has hinted at the possibility of military intervention.

Reporter Yu Deok-gi has the details.

On the 11th local time, an unidentified projectile fired by the pro-Iranian Houthi rebels once again struck King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.

The attack left one Pakistani national dead and 11 others injured.

In the airspace near the airport, a cruise missile was intercepted by the Saudi-led coalition, and at least two explosions were heard in downtown Riyadh.

This comes just a day after 13 people, including American citizens, were killed and some 300 others were injured.

[Saudi State Television: The General Authority of Civil Aviation announced that King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh has been targeted by another attack. The attack has resulted in casualties….]

The Houthis stated that they also attacked Dammam Airport in eastern Saudi Arabia and oil facilities belonging to the state-owned company Saudi Aramco.

They claimed it was retaliation for the Saudi coalition launching 124 airstrikes targeting mainland Yemen over the past 24 hours, which resulted in civilian deaths.

[Yahya Saree / Spokesperson for Yemeni Houthi Rebels: Anyone who attacks us, we will attack them in the exact same manner. (The Saudi airstrikes are) a response to the brutal aggression of Saudi Arabia.]

As Saudi air defense systems have repeatedly been breached and yesterday's airstrike even claimed the lives of American citizens, the United States—which had previously provided only indirect support such as sharing intelligence on airstrikes—has hinted at the possibility of military intervention.

[Donald Trump / US President (Local Time 10th): (Have you decided whether to join Saudi Arabia's retaliatory airstrikes?) We might. We're going to take a look at it. (When will you make a decision?) I just heard about this attack. We'll make a decision shortly. We move very quickly.]

Amid the worsening situation in the Middle East, South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a joint situation assessment meeting presided over by Minister Cho Hyun, and raised the travel alert for all of Saudi Arabia to Level 3, or Departure Recommendation, effective from 10 PM last night.
