Just a day after a missile attack by Iran-backed Houthi rebels killed 12 people at an international airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the airport has been struck by another airstrike. Late last night (October 11), South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs raised the travel alert for Saudi Arabia to level 3 out of 4, strongly advising citizens to leave the country.

According to the Saudi-led coalition, an unidentified projectile struck Terminal 4 of King Khalid International Airport on October 11, local time, causing a fire.

This comes just a day after a tragic missile attack by Iran-backed Houthi rebels left 12 people dead and over 300 injured.

The coalition stated that local authorities are conducting firefighting and recovery operations, adding that separately, Saudi air defenses intercepted a cruise missile in the skies near the airport.

The General Authority of Civil Aviation in Saudi Arabia also announced that the latest attack resulted in injuries and that it is currently assessing the exact scale of the damage.

In addition, at least two powerful consecutive explosions were reportedly heard in the central and northern downtown areas of Riyadh on the same day.

As Saudi air defenses have been repeatedly breached and even claimed the lives of American citizens, the United States—which had previously provided only indirect support such as intelligence sharing on airstrikes—has hinted at the possibility of military intervention.

[Donald Trump / US President (Local time, October 10): (Have you decided whether to join Saudi Arabia's retaliatory airstrikes?) We could. We'll be looking at it. (When will you make a decision?) I just heard about this attack. We'll make a decision fairly soon. We move very quickly.]

Amid the deteriorating situation in the Middle East, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a joint situation assessment meeting presided over by Minister Cho Hyun, and raised the travel alert for all of Saudi Arabia to Level 3 (Departure Advisory) effective 10 p.m. last night.
