Minister of the Interior and Safety Yoon Ho-jung has ordered an inspection of Lim Eun-jung, head of the Gwangju Regional Serious Crime Investigation Office, following her public criticism of Kim Ji-yong, the nominee for the inaugural chief of the Serious Crime Investigation Office.
In a post shared on social media today, Minister Yoon stated, "Lim seems to be confusing the Serious Crime Investigation Office with a political organization rather than an investigative one," and announced the decision.
This directive for an inspection is based on the Serious Crime Investigation Office Act, which stipulates that the Minister of the Interior and Safety directs and supervises the chief of the office and its subordinate personnel.
Previously, Lim targeted nominee Kim, criticizing, "The inaugural chief of the Serious Crime Investigation Office is the primary investigator of the office," and adding, "Someone who should serve as a counter-example must not become the first."
