Veteran Kiwoom Heroes infielder Oh Sun-jin, 37, is leaving the professional baseball diamond after 19 years.

The Kiwoom club announced on October 11 that infielder Oh Sun-jin has decided to retire and conclude his professional playing career.

Oh first stepped into the professional ranks after being selected by the Hanwha Eagles in the 4th round of the 2008 rookie draft. He later played for the Samsung Lions and Lotte Giants, and has worn the Kiwoom uniform since 2025.

As a utility resource capable of stably covering all infield positions, he quietly fulfilled his role whenever the team needed him.

Over 17 seasons in his professional career, he appeared in 1,295 games, recording a batting average of 0.239 with 680 hits, 19 home runs, and 251 RBIs.

Oh shared his thoughts, saying, "I am wrapping up my 19-year playing career."

He added, "I am grateful to have started with Hanwha, passed through Samsung and Lotte, and been able to finish my career with Kiwoom. Kiwoom has many young players with great talent. I believe that if these players gain experience and grow, the team will become much stronger."

He concluded his farewell by saying, "The fact that I was able to play baseball for 19 years was a great blessing itself. I sincerely thank everyone who has been with me along the way."
