Police and fire authorities have launched a joint inspection to determine the cause of a ceiling collapse at a commercial building in Gwaneum-dong, Daegu.

The Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency began the joint inspection procedures at the collapse site at 9 a.m. today, alongside officials from the National Forensic Service, fire authorities, and other relevant agencies.

Police plan to investigate the cause of the accident and review whether to apply charges of professional negligence resulting in injury against building officials and other related parties.

Previously, around 10:20 a.m. yesterday, ceiling finishing materials collapsed on the second floor of a four-story building located in Gwaneum-dong, Buk-gu, Daegu, injuring 38 people.
