A British man in his 30s who stabbed a female acquaintance with a weapon at a university in Seoul and fled to Britain has been captured by local authorities.
The Korean National Police Agency announced that it cooperated with the UK's National Extradition Unit (NEU) to arrest the British national, identified as A, on the 8th local time on charges of attempted murder.
A is suspected of stabbing a female acquaintance in her 20s, identified as B, in the neck with a weapon at a university in Seoul at around 11:50 a.m. on September 29, and then leaving the country.
Immediately after A fled, the Korean National Police Agency issued an Interpol Red Notice.
Through cooperation with Interpol, authorities subsequently confirmed that A had entered the United Kingdom.
A Red Notice is a request to law enforcement agencies worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest a fugitive.
The Korean police liaison officer dispatched to the UK worked closely with the local National Extradition Unit to pinpoint A's location.
As a result, A was apprehended 9 days after fleeing overseas.
The Korean National Police Agency stated, "We plan to rapidly pursue A's repatriation to Korea through extradition procedures in cooperation with related agencies, including the Ministry of Justice."
