Renowned jazz pianist Kevin Hays will hold concerts in Seoul and Sejong on the 6th and 7th of next month.
Hays has released more than 22 albums across various labels since his debut in 1990 with an album featuring jazz saxophone master Joe Henderson.
Hailing from New York, USA, Hays rose to global stardom following critical acclaim for his 1994 Blue Note debut album, "Seventh Sense," which was praised for capturing the energy of the mid-1960s—a period of swing-based rhythms and experimental exploration of harmony.
He also won the Best Contemporary Instrumental Album category at the 61st Grammy Awards the following year as a member of the Steve Gadd Band in 2018.
In 2021, he was named a "Steinway Artist," a title bestowed by the piano manufacturer Steinway upon musicians who demonstrate exceptional artistic merit.
This marks Hays's first visit to Korea for a concert in 18 years, following his appearance at the Incheon Jazz Festival in 2008.
Jazz Bridge Company, the concert organizer, introduced him, stating, "Hays presents music deeply rooted in jazz tradition while never letting himself be bound by it," adding, "This will be an opportunity to experience the live performance of an outstanding jazz pianist of our time."
