WINNER member Song Mino, 33, who was sentenced to a prison term with probation in the first trial on charges of habitually and unauthorized desertion from his post while serving as a social service agent, issued an official apology today (October 9).
In a handwritten letter posted on his social media account today, Song stated, "I bow my head and apologize for causing concern to many people because of me."
"Above all, I am deeply sorry for disappointing the young men who are faithfully fulfilling their military duties and the fans who cherished me more than anyone," he wrote. "Day after day, my regrets have been long. I was ashamed of and hated my irresponsible past choices."
Song was indicted on charges of deserting his workplace without authorization for 102 days while working as a social service agent at a facility in Mapo-gu, Seoul, from March 2023 to December of the following year. He was sentenced to one year in prison, suspended for two years, in his first trial on October 1.
He did not appeal the first-instance verdict.
"I will reflect on my foolish mistakes without evading them," Song added. "I will faithfully carry out the remaining procedures and duties. I will not forget this incident, keep it engraved in my heart, and live with a greater sense of responsibility."
