A man in his 70s died after falling from the roof of a 15-story apartment building in Bongseon-dong, Nam-gu, Gwangju, around 9:00 a.m. today (Oct. 9).

Following the accident, the victim, identified as Mr. A, was transported to a nearby hospital in cardiac arrest, but ultimately passed away.

Police found that Mr. A was in the middle of conducting exterior painting work on the apartment building at the time of the accident.

Based on a witness statement indicating that Mr. A fell when his center of gravity momentarily shifted downward while he was lowering a rope from the roof, police are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident and whether safety regulations were followed.
